Our Resources

Looking for information about your rights in Scotland? Just Citizen’s has produced  several detailed fact sheets, and compiled a list of resources to point you in the right direction. If you need specialist immigration advice, we recommend you consult with a lawyer.

EU Citizens

Unsure of your rights as an EU citizen living in Scotland? JustCitizens have written these factsheets to help you better understand your rights to live, work, study and access healthcare, benefits and housing in Scotland.

These factsheets are free for you to download, print and share with others. They are also available in Italian, Lithuanian, Polish, Romanian and Spanish.

EU citizens who are resident in the UK by 31 December 2020 will have to apply to the UK Government’s EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021 to continue living in the UK

For more information on the UK Government’s EU Settlement Scheme, the application process, requirements and links to other resources, you can access the Scottish Governments ‘Stay in Scotland’ Toolkit. From here, you can download the ‘Stay in Scotland’ information leaflet in multiple languages. The toolkit also provides some practical suggestions for employers to support their EU employees.

Asylum seekers

If you have come to Scotland to seek protection and asylum, you can find information on the process of claiming asylum here. This information explains what you’ll get, eligibility and how to claim. Migrant Help also explains the process of claiming asylum – available in multiple languages.

To prepare for your asylum interview (CITIZENS ADVICE) it is advised that you get advice from an immigration specialist.

If your application for asylum has been refused you can appeal the decision (UK GOV). Could put in info about contacting JRS for help/advice on this? It is recommended that you contact a legal advisor as soon as possible.
